Keyamo Disowns 2027 Delta Gubernatorial Campaign Posters, Labels Them BlackmailThe Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed circulating campaign posters suggesting he intends to run for Governor of Delta State in 2027.
In a statement released on Monday, his Special Assistant on Political Matters, Voke Oshasha, described the posters as “fake” and an attempt at blackmail by individuals seeking to dominate the Delta APC for personal gain.Oshasha clarified that Keyamo’s focus, alongside other party leaders, is on making the APC more inclusive, rather than allowing it to be controlled by a single figure.
“Our attention has been drawn to some fake posters online insinuating that Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN, is planning to contest for the Delta governorship under the APC in 2027. This is entirely false.
It is nothing more than a smear campaign by those attempting to hijack the party,” the statement read.
He emphasized that Keyamo, known for his history of resisting dictatorship, remains committed to ensuring democracy thrives within the Delta APC.”Our goal is simple: no one should be excluded or shut out. The party must be open to all, not controlled by a select few.
Attempts at blackmail will not deter the minister from working with other stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Delta State,” Oshasha added.
Despite this denial, some political observers believe the posters could be a strategic move to test public sentiment, potentially positioning Keyamo for a political contest against former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, who is also rumored to have gubernatorial aspirations.
