Excerpts
Tell us about yourself ?
My name is Victor Oyebode , an Actor , Lecturer , Model and Chef , I have been playing the role of Boy Alinco in Papa Ajasco and company since 2006 and to God be the Glory. I have featured in other Nollywood movies both English and Yoruba.
Shed more light on you being a Chef and Lecturer ?
I found out that I love anything kitchen too, I love the sound of spoons , cutleries.i have had to feature on a cooking show and I carried my audience along also introducing new recipe for them. As for being a lecturer , I have been doing more of motivational talks and that was what gave birth to lecturing.
How did journey into lecturing start for you ?
I attended Lasu, our HOD then had a production and he beckoned on me to come be part of it. I went there did my thing and officials from a polytechnic saw me and approached me to come tutor their students on the basis of acting and today I am the HOD of the institution and its been amazing.
How challenging is the Boy Alinco role ?
Back then it was pretty difficult, because I had to break into the role that had another personalty doing it for over 10 years. I had a lot of issues breaking in, the audience already used to some one else . I just had to look inward and bring on my cartoon creativity into play and that began to stand me out. Gradually , I started to surmount my fears and became the household name everybody wants to see.
You once said you felt really bad that you were replacing Bayo Bankole the immediate past Boy Alinco ?
i had just gotten the role and was going to sign my contract then I saw Bayo Bankole going in into the office immediately I saw him I felt bad that this is the person im replacing but he didn’t know then and was just minding his business.
Have You met him since then ?
Yes, we met on a set of a production and aside that there was a time we had a backlash, he said I’m fake that why didn’t I come with my own style, that why am I using hos own rigmarole and all that. Trust me, I didn’t respond, actually he wasn’t the first Boy Alinco . Jimi Sholanke and Peter Fatomilola were the first and second respectively.
How Would You have reacted if you chose to ?
Well I wouldn’t have reacted no matter what. I like to be calm in every situation.
Have You met after then ?
Sure we met, I didn’t react like he said somethings about me, probably he too thought I didn’t see it . There was no reaction from either of us, we did our thing well.Infact I played his younger brother in the movie.
Does it mean he didn’t hand over to you ?
No , not at all, there was a clash between him the the management as at then , there wasn’t a handing over that was pleasant it was an eject. He must have felt bad, he must have done all he could to come back. It appears I was accepted and that explains why I was retained. The papa Ajasco man that came in with us was left and the one that left came back 5 years after .There was a census and the people said he wasn’t funny enough.
He wasn’t funny enough
How have you managed to keep fit for this role ?
I don’t eat that much, my father is not fat I think this stature is just hereditary. And I have managed to keep fit too by not eating junks.
Tell us if acting has paid off for you ?
Sure it has, I have a lot of connections, I have met many people and it has opened many doors for me, My Job my pride.
What advice would you be giving your fans ?
I want to tell them to keep supporting us, because without them there cant be us.And I urge them to discover their talent and and try to start using it because talent opens doors and paves way for people. It might be difficult in the beginning but they shouldn’t relent.
