The coroner’s inquest into the death of 12-year-old Miss Desola Whitney Adeniran resumed today at the Magistrate Court, Ikeja, with the testimony of the pathologist, Dr. Sanni Ayodele Daniel
.Representatives present at the hearing included Araba Esq from the Office of the Attorney General, and lawyers from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Abimbola Ojenike Esq and Oluwadamilola Omotosho Esq.
The family of the deceased was represented by Oluwatodimu Ige Esq, while our firm was represented by Obiechina Justin Esq and Oluwabusayomi Gbadegesin Esq.
During his testimony, Dr. Daniel revealed the findings of the full autopsy conducted on Whitney’s body.
He concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia resulting from electrocution, noting there were no signs of any underlying illness or reactions to medication.
Some of the key medical findings listed in the report include:Marked fluidity of blood in her bloodstream Grazed abrasion on the back of the right forearm Subpleural petechial hemorrhage in the brain Electric burn injury on the right Knee shock in the Kidneys cerebral edema (brain swelling)
After presenting his testimony, Dr. Daniel was cross-examined by Oluwatodimu Ige Esq, counsel to the deceased’s family, and Abimbola Ojenike Esq, counsel to the FCCPC.It was noted that Chrisland Schools and the vendor, Mr. Ademoye Adewale, were absent from the proceedings, despite being duly served hearing notices.
The matter has been adjourned to August 8, 2025, for the cross-examination of the witness by all the defendants’ legal representatives.
Conclusion:Dr. Daniel’s expert testimony confirms that Desola Whitney died by electrocution.
