Abeokuta the Ogun state capital was on Tuesday afternoon thrown into pandemonium as protesters stormed the streets to protest shortage of cash and fuel Scarcity.
An eyewitness who simply gave his name as Alimi narrated his ordeal, saying he saw bullet fly past him.
In a video obtained by NNN correspondent, a young man was seen crying for help after being shot in the arm by the police.
It was gathered that the protesters had attempted to attack the GTbank but they were repelled by the Police following a prompt intervention.
On Tuesday afternoon, the protesters blocked the busy Obantoko road, setting bonfires on the main road.
Moreso in the video, protesters were seen hurling stones at one Automated Teller Machine (ATM) belonging to First Bank and voices were heard at the background saying ”this suffering is too much in the country”
As at when filing this report the number of those injured cannot be ascertained but the police are on top of the situation.
To avoid being attacked, taxi drivers and okada riders had to show solidarity by attaching leaves to their vehicles.
While parents rushed to schools to take home their wards at noon, residents were seen frantically calling loved ones to stay safe and avoid being victims of the ongoing violent protest.
