Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially joined the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made the announcement on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall, alongside leaders of the Accord Party.
Adeleke said he actually joined the party over a month ago, on November 6, 2025. He explained that he moved to Accord Party so he could run for a second term as governor in the 2026 election.According to him, the decision came after consulting different groups and leaders in the state.
He also said that the Accord Party shares his focus on improving the lives of workers and citizens.Adeleke resigned from the PDP on December 2, saying that the party was facing too many leadership problems at the national level.
He confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to his ward leaders in Ede North Local Government.Adeleke thanked the PDP for supporting him in his political career—from being a senator to becoming governor.During his announcement, Adeleke said the people of Osun know why he switched parties and that his goal is to continue his work as governor.
He noted that Accord Party is focused on good governance and welfare of the people, which he believes matches his own priorities.Adeleke also called on residents from all parts of the state to support him and the Accord Party in the coming election.
He concluded by saying that Osun voted for progress in 2022 and will choose continuity in 2026.
